School Profile
Vista Heights has an interdisciplinary team approach that is used at 7th and 8th grades, wherein a group of students is taught by an academic core team of language arts, social studies, science, and math teachers. At sixth grade, the goal is to have students taught by one teacher for language arts and social studies and one for math and science.
Each trimester, 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in an exploratory class. Currently, ten exploratory classes are offered.
State standards, state frameworks, and state-adopted texts are used to provide a strong base for our instructional program. Supplementary resources, from assemblies, field trips, and staff development service, assist teachers in maximizing the potential of each of our students.
The Vista Heights community is a “Cultural of Excellence” that believes all middle school students are capable of learning and becoming responsible adults. We are dedicated to helping each student maximize his/her academic, emotional, and positive social growth in order to become lifelong learners.
