Vista Heights is an authorized school for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. The IB MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation. As part of the program, students take classes from eight different curricular areas.
Jill Dayton, our IB MYP Coordinator, shares information with families via a quarterly newsletter. Here are links to previous newsletters:

IB Learner Profile
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) learner profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them. Each of the IB's programs is committed to the development of students according to the IB learner profile.
The profile aims to develop learners who are:
- Inquirers
- Knowledgeable
- Thinkers
- Communicators
- Principled
- Open-minded
- Caring
- Risk-takers
- Balanced
- Reflective
Teachers incorporate the IB Learner Profiles into their unit and lesson plans so that students can experience growth in these areas over time. Developing these attributes will help students become well-rounded, globally minded individuals.
